I love doing cute DIY projects for Valentine's day, anniversaries and even birthdays. So, with our first wedding anniversary coming up I thought I would do a post on what I've been busy with lately. I decided to stick to tradition and based all my goodies on the paper tradition. Hopefully you will be able to do some of these this year :)
Pretty Polaroids
Since we do not have a Polaroid camera I thought I'd be a bit creative and make my own. I used PicMonkey (www.picmonkey.com) to edit my photos so they have a Polariod frame and washed out colour effect. PicMonkey is free for some effects and signing up is easy.
While editing I straightened the picture out, made the background a light colour (makes cutting it out easier) and adjusted the Polariod effect as desired. I then used these pictures in Publisher and sized them 9,01cmx7,48cm. Once finished I saved it as a PDF and printed on glossy card.

52 Date ideas pack of cards
Confession - this was not my idea or design, but I found this amazing printable and it works so well!!
All you need to do is download the PDF and print it on the desired paper/cardboard. Some of the dates aren't relevant to SA (watch a baseball game) so if I had more time I would have edited some of them myself.
Hand-made card
Since hot air balloons are pretty special to us and our relationship I knew I had found the perfect idea for a card. I used a large brown envelope, white paper, colour paper, glitter paper (used inside the card - very expensive, but I love the bling) and a fine liner.
Inside I used double sided tape to stick a 4 page poem (yip that's 4 A4 pages!!) which I printed on a single A3 sheet and then folded in half. The booklet effect inside is very effective but you can also stick colour paper inside and write on that.
A smaller envelope can be used instead of the very large one.
Sticky Notes
I used a booklet of pink sticky notes and wrote on each one. The first note read "You are the...." in bold khoki, while the rest were written with a thin black pen and completed the phrase. Examples include:
.....weekend to my week.
.....icing to my cupcake.
.....smile on my face.
You know, real corny stuff :)

My gift also included a scratch map (scratch the countries you have already visited), framed photo with our first dance's lyrics, a journal and a scrapbook file I started making a while ago. Other paper gift ideas include coupon booklets, a book, vouchers (massage/spa day) or even concert tickets.
